Rites of community society
Community work that strengthens cooperation and solidarity among groups
In order to build a Dolmen, a huge rock must be quarried and transported. In this process, it takes a long time and a large amount of labor to quarry and transport megaliths ranging from several tons to tens of tons. Only a society based on agriculture that can secure stable food can mobilize a large-scale labor force. Therefore, Dolmens could be built as a ceremonial act of a community group centered on blood ties, settled life with a certain territorial area formed, and agriculture including rice farming. In addition, in a society where Dolmens were built, a community society such as an agricultural community must be formed within a certain area in order to strengthen cooperation and solidarity among various groups. It is thought that cooperative organizations, such as Doore seen in ancient societies, were formed against the background of community society, and Dolmens, which were not only the tombs of their ancestors but also monuments of the group, were built as part of a kinship group event. It is understood that this act played a major role in consolidating the power of the community and achieving cooperative unity.
