Distribution

Ganghwa is geographically located in the center of the Korean Peninsula,
but is geographically separated from the land and is an independent area within a certain range.
There are 150 Dolmens distributed around Mt. Goryeo, and the protected area reaches 116m.
World Heritage Dolmens are grouped in five regions around Mt. Goryeo: Bugeun-ri of Hajeom-myun, Samgeori of Naega-myeon, Gocheon-ri of Osang-ri, and Gyosan-ri of Yangsa-myeon, and these Dolmens were mainly built along the ridge and are located adjacent to small streams flowing down from Mt. Goryeo.

The Dolmens in Gocheon-ri are distributed in a high area of 280m above sea level and are receiving extraordinary attention from the academic world. Currently, 70 Dolmens listed as World Heritage are distributed in a mixture of table type and no-wheel stone type, but table type is the mainstream. Ganghwa Dolmens have been designated as Historic Site No. 137 and is the most familiar Dolmen to us. Dolmen in the Ganghwa area play an important role in connecting the veins of South and North Korea Dolmens, and are also closely related to Northeast Asian tomb culture.
